Default Trip is now officially over

Well I am back from my 3200 mile road trip in 7 days. I averaged 10 hours a day and man was it worth it. Nothing brings you closer to your machine than just riding solo for a week. I met some real nice people and didn't have one close call with a car while I was gone.

I went to ride the Tail of the Dragon in Tenn. then drove to Key West. The trip was more of the ride than the destination and it didn't let me down. Very relaxing. Stopping when I wanted to, going where I wanted, visiting several Harley stores and Hooters, meeting fellow Harley riders, not watching a clock just the sun.

I would highly recommend a solo trip over 2500 miles where you really didn't have to be at a certain place at a certain time. That was as close to the feeling of Utopia that I think I will ever have in my lifetime. Unless I go on another??????????

I've slayed 'The Dragon' many times over the years in my sport bike days. That area has some absolutely awesome roads and scenery. There is hardly a bad road to be found-just watch out for the Federal Park Police, creative writing is their forte'.

T-Bone,
Congrats on the trip. I was raised in Blount County, Tenn. and have ridden the dragon's tail before it was called that on my '67 Triumph TR6R Trophy many times. I've scattered a few sparks there from my road pegs. It is one of the best engineered roads I've ever ridden. The engineer who designed built that road should have a monument. The turns are banked perfectly.

My wife and I just returned from a week in Southern Cal where we covered about half of the mileage you did. Now, I'm hankering to get back out there again. Damn work, gets in the way of everything.

PipeDaddy,

What program did you use to do your map?
