I picked up my new bike tuesday and took it home in a trailer so it wouldn't get wet and spent four hours install chrome parts it really needed bad. The next day the sun was out and 37 F so off i went for my first ride. I rode for six hours before calling it a day. I only went 150 miles but i took it real easy and stoped and let it cool down a few times. The only thing about the bike i did not like is the handlebars. They make me lean forward and are to narrow for my me. The bike is a real road carver, you can get into a cornor a lot faster and without the effort needed on most bikes. I forgot this is a heavy bike because it never felt that way riding it. It is higher off the ground and my 32 inch inseam only lets me touch my foot on the ground. The brakes are really powerful and smooth. In all i would have to say this is the best of the best. I can't wait to ride it after the 1000 mile SERT dyno tune. Oh do any of you know what bars will give me a more up right riding position, say two inchs back and one to two higher than stock.
Willie,
I highly recommend you look at the Khrome Werks Sweeper +2 bars. They will give you what you want and have a great wrist position. You can get the bars & a +4 clutch cable from a Forum vendor (Warehouse Direct) for just over $100.00. These 2 parts will be all you need for the installation. Lots of guys here on the forum are using this set-up.
I have a 29" inseam and have an 07 that I lowered front and rear. Made all the difference for me. I test rode the 09 and found I had the same problem it is higher than the 07 was stock. If I got one, I would lower it. Did love the way the 09 rode..Enjoy your new Ride!!!!
Just had the Wild 1 WO575 handlebars put on my '07 Ultra. Should be up about 2inches, and closer about 2inches. If you search the forum, you'll find plenty of info on it.
my 08 stock s.g is getting a service so they gave me a 2009 electra glide classic for a day. i have to say it seems the bike has more torque then my 08 s.g how can this be.
The 09's have a slightly lower primary ratio, making it easier to take off in 1st gear. HD did this to compensate for the additional weight. Of course this means they probably rev just a little higher at highway speeds than the 07-08's.

Yes, I test drove an 08 Ultra off the show room floor and went home happy with my 02 RKC because it had more power with just a stage one. Two weeks later I test road an 09 Ultra and didn't want to go home without it. If the dealer had offered $1000 for trade in, I would have a different picture in my header. I guess the pullys make that much difference.
While mine is still at the dealer, they are installing the Touring Pull Back handlebars and ISO grips. I believe the part # for the HD bars is 56176-08. That should give me a little bit of elbow bend and the rise is about an inch also. I ordered the seat back and will install that myself.
