I picked up my new bike tuesday and took it home in a trailer so it wouldn't get wet and spent four hours install chrome parts it really needed bad. The next day the sun was out and 37 F so off i went for my first ride. I rode for six hours before calling it a day. I only went 150 miles but i took it real easy and stoped and let it cool down a few times. The only thing about the bike i did not like is the handlebars. They make me lean forward and are to narrow for my me. The bike is a real road carver, you can get into a cornor a lot faster and without the effort needed on most bikes. I forgot this is a heavy bike because it never felt that way riding it. It is higher off the ground and my 32 inch inseam only lets me touch my foot on the ground. The brakes are really powerful and smooth. In all i would have to say this is the best of the best. I can't wait to ride it after the 1000 mile SERT dyno tune. Oh do any of you know what bars will give me a more up right riding position, say two inchs back and one to two higher than stock.
I had an almost similar problem with the bars not being positioned right. Believe it or not I put my driver backrest on and it made a world of difference. I am now extremely comfortable. I too have a 32 in seam and am 5'9".
I just got my 09 Ultra 2 weeks ago. I thought it ran real good stock. Yesterday, at 500 miles, I had the Stage 1 download, Screamin Eagle AC and Vance and Hines Basic Slip Ons installed. WOW!!! This bike came alive. It sounds AWESOME! I should have done this to my 07 Ultra. Anyone running stock is really missing something.
I installed the remote adjustable back rest from Harley and had it pushing me forward and the bars are still to low and narrow. I am 6.1 and have a long torso so thats the real problem.
I love that red hot sun glow and smokey gold combo. I have a pair of bub rinehart slip ons and the new SE air cleaner off the CVO but will wait until i have 1000 miles before they dyno it.
my 08 stock s.g is getting a service so they gave me a 2009 electra glide classic for a day. i have to say it seems the bike has more torque then my 08 s.g how can this be.
I only had my new Ultra out for one day too (102 miles on her), and I agree 100% with your assessment. I would actually describe the handling as "flick-able", which is not something anyone would probably normally ascribe to a Geezer Glide. Love this bike, can't wait for the weather to break so I can put some real miles on her.
Congrats on your new ride. Now get out there and put some miles on it so you can get that 1000 mile service and SERT / Dyno done soon. Don't forget to add the high flow air cleaner and pipes when you get the SERT.

09 has the lower gearing
I've had my 09 ultra since february 11th and coming on 300 miles now and man oh man she handles great. If it wasn't for moving to a new house this past weekend, I'd probably be over 700 miles now lol
But it corners a whole lot smoother than my sporty. I was expecting it to actually feel heavy compared to the sporty but it balances and handles better in corners, go figure....
