Don't have one now, but I believe that if you don't need the built-in extra storage capability of the E Glides, you can't go wrong with the RK. You can even add extra cargo capabilities easily if it is ever needed. To my mind the RK is exactly what a traditional Harley should look like and the two tone color suits that style perfectly.
>>...but remember that you can't lock those leather bags.<<
Actually you can. I went with this and had the it key-aliked with the ignition. 'Course someone could cut the bags up too. No matter, I feel better with 'em. Just don't lock your keys in a bag like I did today .
i must be crazy too, been riding a classic since '99. I've never (knock on wood) had anything stolen out of my non lockable bags or matching tour pack.....
Versatility of the RK over the other HDs was one of the reasons I got mine. The other was that their is more space available in the hardbags than the leather bags. I had the same difficult decision when I bought mine. Good luck on your decision and regardless of your choice, I'd be proud to ride next to you.
Buy the bike that will suit YOU and what you want and need in a bike. I had an '05 EGC before this latest bike. When that bike got totalled I debated between the RK and RKC and went for the hard bags cuz I use the heck out of them daily and needed them to be durable and lockable.
I've always loved the RK and think it's THE classic motorcycle. It's very versatile with the detachable mounting kit... A tourpak can be added, passenger backrest, luggage rack, etc. All are quick and easy to have on and off the bike. You can strip it down and remove the windshield, etc for a convertible feeling in warmer weather.
I think the RKC is the best looking Harley hands down and that turquoise white color is stunning. Go for it if you don't mind wire wheels and non-locking bags.
I went with an RK. Almost as nice looking but a bit more practical.
of all my bikes over the past 20 years, the RK is my favorite. There is just something about a big a$$ scoot with nothing blocking your way. It is all about versitality.
Mind you I say this two weeks after buying a SG.
...yup still love the RK
Grabbed a RK custom in '07 made it mine & bought the wife her 1200L
made for her, solo seats on both. just can't ride without a bug or 2 in the teeth,
and the wind in our hair.
Buy what makes you tingle, 1st impressions...
