I dumped mine twice while I was training, but I had cut up a cheap steering wheel cover, got some clamps and covered my crash bars. No damage at all. You can also get them ready made at Proguards.com, about 20 bucks for a full set.

I bought one of the tapes years ago after getting back into riding, best money ever spent. Wife says it helped her and our son is watching and practising it this spring. Wife and I both practise, we have a couple parking lots and some soccer cones we set up with. We have won a couple slow ride trophies, another couple we know are absolutely awesome at the slow riding.
