Default SERT and Vista 64 bit solved....

I posted this in the tech forum and thought some in this forum might have the same problem.

I recently had to replace my XP laptop and the new one came with Vista 64 installed. The SERT software ran fine but my USB>serial adapter wouldn't work and I coudn't fine Vista 64 bit drivers for it.

I finally found an adapter (an IOgear GUC232A) at Fry's Electronics. The IOgear web site has Vista 64 bit drivers to download. Today I finally got a chance to try it and it communicates fine with the ECM. Now to modify my map to help with the decel popping.

Talk about a niche audience...

Vista 64, Harley owner and SERT super tuner.

Don't see those combinations every day

Nice workaround! Don't ya just hate it when hardware drivers aren't available for the existing and you have to get an intermediary device so the darn thing works?

Not the Super tuner, just the straight version 4.77 SERT. I thought there might be a few frustrated SERT owners around. Maybe I'm the last.

He's using the 64-bit version of Vista, not the 32-bit version (95% of the computers out there are running 32-bit versions of Vista/XP. 64-bit is still in its' early years, for desktop/laptop OS, though coming on strong, due to the elimination of Usable Memory restrictions in 64-bit).

Many newer laptops (either Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon x2 or Turion) are 64-bit capable, which allows the laptop to utilize memory more efficiently, among other things.

Here's the "Decel Enleanment" settings on my '06 Ultra with SE/AC and Python slipons. No more popping.

Vista is a wierd challenge for sure... I have xp on my laptop but here in the puker ham radio room im running Vista and controlling all my ham radio equipment with and using it for radio teletype and other things.. I can tell you a few times i just wanted to pull my hair out ! At least the pcIII can be done with usb where a lot of the radio stuff is still comport controlled and what do you do with a new puker with no comports?... Well ive got a couple edgeport usb to com units that work pretty good and i have only one issue with one program for radio control.. I have a cheap usb to com cable for my laptop that works on every thing ive tried so far cept allen bradley programming software. I keep getting time outs there but thats hi tech and way out of reach for most people anyway . So if you need a usb to com adapter buy a quality one .. I know price can be an option but look at the reviews on the product before you purchase... wait till you really start getting to vista and find it puts stuff where you cant find it or it says it created the file and you can search and find the file name but its not really there .... Been there done that... Best bet if unsure is right click on the program icon and run the program in administrator mode.. I had issues and a friend showed me this trick and it works ..

I should send you the map on my 06 glide classic with a/c and rush slipons for the dyno tune.. It still has some issues with stumbling once in a while but it flat *** cranks and gets great mileage and the funny thing is i started with a canned map then after the big crash i got it dynoed for free at the shop that was repairing the cash damage cause my buddy owns part of the place and one day i compared the canned map to the dyno map ! !! Its way lean ? I stopped by one day and we were bsing so i says hey how come this thing was leaned out so much... You would have to know this guy but he stops for about 2 minutes thinking and says oh ya .. Man was that thing fat ? I says really ? he says yup ... So ive never really worried about it and like i said its got power... somewhere i have the dyno chart too ... I can tell ya it hates cold weather at least till it gets good and warmed up but when it does look out..........
