I have been thinking about adding an HD adjustable rider backrest. A recent post showed a photo of the adjustment handle mounted on the frame and it appears like my RJ's Originals heat deflector may be in the way. Does anybody have both installed together?
I had them both on my RK and never had a problem adjusting the backrest, even moving. A word about RJ - he's got a great product and personally talked me through a couple of issues with the install. I took my bike in for some work and afterwards was heading home on the interstate in heavy traffic when the right one blew off; there was no way I could go back to look for it. I didn't follow his advice and use a zip tie to keep the two deflectors together. I called RJ and told him about the problem. He shipped out a replacement and I had it back on, with zip tie, in a couple of days. He's got a great product, the quality and service are outstanding.
08 SG. Have the adjustable backrest. Just added HD heat deflector. Yes, it covers the whole adjustment level, but I can easily reach under.
Looking closer at it, I might take the level cable apart and mount it ON the deflector, just have to dremel a small section out, not sure about how the deflector will stand up to the lever tension over time. It seems to be pretty solid but guess I have to be in the right mood to do it.
