Right On! I could care less. My ride is sweet and the only thing I want is some reasonable MPG. If that's possible. I'm hoping someone can point me to a good tuner somewhere on my travel route. There must be a great one in Southern California.

I have been riding it hard as I love the sound and wind in my face. I'll get some of that out of my system in 2 week ;=]

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about the hp/tq #'s as any tuner can just about make you see any number they wanna.

6Hr on a dyno is alot of time. The average is 2 to 3 tops maybe 4 hrs. I would definetly look into another tuner.

A custom map on a PCIII should take no more than a couple of hours. A SERT will take longer. My concern with the SERT was that I did not want my new ride "Wrung out" on the dyno for hours on end. BTW, a dyno tuner can take a stock bike and show you whatever numbers you want to see. They know how to fudge more HP and TQ out of a run. If it runs good, feels good, and gets decent mpg ( about 40+ ) thats all you can expect. Do not obsess about dyno numbers. My stock ( A/C, true duals and pythons ) '06 roadie did 74 hp and 79 TQ. It runs good, and gets 41 MPG. I'm happy!

Shoulda kept it stock. I traveled 1650 miles two weeks ago with wife and baggage. Ave. 70-75mph highway, rode in godawful LA traffic for part of two days, drove headon through the windiest pass in Calif., climbed several mountains and I averaged 40.65 miles per gallon. I will say that if you ride at 80-100 mph, your mileage is going to drop automatically. The force of the wind you produce increases geometrically and at those speeds that's a lot of air to push out of the way. Add a headwind and she's really going to guzzle.

I matters the way you ride it. Mine is basically stock, except Bubs. I get 36-43 depending on how I ride. I get better with 2 up because I ride more civil with a passenger.

For what its worth, my tuner likes to tune for performance with keeping in mind the MPG issue. He tunes for good throttle roll-on, cruising range and all other RPM’s.

Makes adjustments to timing at different RPM’s to eliminate the popping and also increase MPG.

Another thing is he drills a 5/16 hole in muffler to run the sensor up the head pipe to near the head, this make for much better and accurate readings of the A/F.

My 06 Ultra makes 72HP and 78 TG, not that it matters; I’m more interested in that it runs and feels good. I’m happy.

well Guys I had my bike retuned by another dlr.He [serv mgr] told me if he couldn't get it any better it would free. The bike ran poorly after having another dlr here dyno,to the point that i didn't like the set up at all.I am running Vh duals and SERT and Pythons.Well I was told that they couldnt get it any better by the chart that the other dlr did,but some minor changes were made. They didn't EVEN CHARGE ME FOR 4 1/2 HRS WORK.
Serv Mgr told me to let him know if any change.I rode yesterday and it isn't the same bike.I t is amazing what a qualified dlr can do.I now like my scoot again.hats off to that Dlr.Just thought i would share that with ya'll

I would check the screws on the pipes to the header and make sure they are tight. Yesterday mines came loose. I took my bike to the local wrench and he replaced the gasket and tighten the screws and I'm getting 10 miles more pg on my bike. I was averaging about 30pg yesterday my light didn't come on until I was at 180 miles.

I see you went with PCIII. I'd like to stay with SERT. Know any delears in the LA/Ontario area that have a SERT Guru? I sold my property in Joshua Tree - Been to Pioneer Town a few times!

Zubaugh,

I'm probably echoeing the sentiments of all the folks on this thread. But, I do see your point about staying with SERT. I have one on my RG, and the numbers are pretty much up there. The AFR set on mine gives me about 40mpg on the average, while maintaining the power when I need it. I'm not sure of a guru in the LA area, but I'm sure there are plenty. I would definitely stay away from having the dealer do any dyno on my bike. If you're ever in the Phoenix area, Nick Trask at Custom Performace is one of the top dyno gurus.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Yes I have pretty good numbers from the dyno run, but I am getting $hitty gas mileage too. Average 28 to 30 doing city/highway riding. I run rural highways at 60 mph or less. My dealer/tuner is still amazed that my bike pulled 80.5/81.6 HP/TQ. I am sure mine is running some what rich, and it is supposed to go back in Thursday morning. I will let them play with it some more as long as I do not have to pay more money for it. If for what ever reason they say more money, I say no, and I will find another tuner.

On a side note, and no pun intended here. Not sure how far away you will be from Vegas, but Power Commander is in Vegas if I remember right, maybe you can buy a PCIII and have them tune the bike?? They make the computer for the bike, and the Dyno too, so I would think that they must know what they are doing.
