Unhappy Back Surgery

Hi! Just had back surgery on 2/18/09. They did a lamenectomy and a fusion in the lumbar area of my spine . Anyone out there had back surgery? If so how long did it take before you able to get back to riding? Thanks!!

Had mine done in 1994. L5-S1 fusion with two rods and 4 screws, bone grafts around area to fuse. I was in a hard turtle shell for three months. Things might be a little easier now, sure your surgeon will advise you. Don't push it, one back per person. In the long run, you'll be better off.

Sure have, total disc replacement in 06. C6 and C7 oh how special it was. I was back to driving the truck in bout 4 weeks give or take and the bike in 8 or 9... doc said wait longer but me and my stubborn *** didn't and it was all good.

Yea, I had it years ago. Dr. claimed it was caused due to too much motorcycling. New techniques since then, but I'm a new man since surgery... Good Luck.

Had mine 1/12/09, then they had to go back in 2/20. I'm still not riding. They did say today that I could drive myself, and I don't think mine was as serious, or as much work done, as you had. Not to depress you or anything, but just take your time and heal up the right way the first time.

I had a double discectimy (sp) L4 & L5 on May 2004. I was down for about 6 weeks. Good luck.

had my fusion 2/06 have three in a row dead, we chose the middle one L5 L6 missed o6 for riding took 3 months in that shell took a year to feel good enough to ride

L3-4-5 Rods-Screws Etc. 3 Years ago. Took about 6-8 weeks to be up and going. Without a doubt the BEST decision I ever made to have the surgery. I just have to realize that I can't lift, carry heavy stuff like I could when I was 20. Every once in a while after a long day riding I'll be sore the next morning but hell @ 60 years old and living thru the 60's I'm lucked to be walking at all. Good Luck Gary

wasn't riding when i had back surdery but just had 2 removed from neck on 2/6. find out friday what the doc says.....good luck with yours
