screw driver to back side, pop the wire that holds it on, now they got your lock also, as said before, if they want it, they will get it.

Default Theft deterrent

I just went and looked at the DIY post I had done and the photo's are gone. Presumably because the DIY post was done before the forum switched to the new site. I never got any pm's asking for new pics, and never went back to look til now. Here's the short version, three quarter inch copper pipe end caps, painted, drilled & bolted through on the bracket, so you cannot get an end wrench onto the bolt that holds the bag bracket. Next replace the twist bail with a clevis pin from the outside, cut to length and re-drilled for the retaining clip. I put a TSA suitcase lock on mine instead of the clip with a couple stainless washers to take up the slack for a tight retention point, no vibration. New photo's attached.

I guess there are no guarentees, but hopefully, in the heat of the moment I have removed enough of the "opportunity" the thief will move on to the next bike.

Thanks for the tips. All great ideas for deterrent. Lock it, chain it, watch it.
If you believe that if they want it, they're gonna get it; don't lock it and leave your jacket so they are warm riding it home.
I had 3 chains on my FLSTN, one a Cobra that they cut like butter, but all the chains kept many attempts from getting my bike.
I lock my helmet and run a cable through my jackets. If there are easier bikes, it won't be mine.
Even adding a simple extra bolt will confuse and keep the smash & grab from an easy mark.
I'm working on a little drilled bolt for my windscreen also; I'd hate to walk out and find they dirtbag next to me quick released and attached to his.
Only if it's out of my hands or armed robbery is some dirt bag MF'r getting a free ride.

I just use a bolt and locknut when i travel. Most are stolen with just using a screw driver on the backside of the quick connect.

I just used stainless steel bolts, fender washers, and lock nuts on mine.........cost me $8.

From what I have heard, the stock setup and be defeated with just a hard pull on the bag......no need to open it up at all. The cheap wire thing will just bend and break, and the bag is off and gone in 2 seconds.

I hard wired my bags directly to my battery. It may not keep someone from stealing my bags but it's sure a lot of fun watching them do it.

Nice! I keep a pit bull with aids in each of mine!
I saw a locking device a few years ago that was attached to a Ubolt in the bottom of the bags. I'll try to locate and post
