I just changed my bars, grips and switch housings on my 09 RKC. The kit (for $698.00!) came with the chrome switch caps, which are cheap, fragile and made in China. I couldnt get them on without breaking them, so I just put the black ones back on. Looks good with the chrome housings... But for $698.00 they shouldnt be so crappy!
It is probably a 1-2 hour job, 1 hour if you have done it before - so I'd say $100 is fair.
They are very fragile and will break if you are not super careful when putting them on. It's my most hated job I do for people, and normally takes me about 1 hour to do a bike.
I have an extra kit in my toolbox that I take from when I break one......LOL
Tips: Use a small, magnetic tipped phillips screwdriver on the tiny screws that secure the metal clamps to the inside of the housings; use a small flatblade screwdriver to remove the caps from the switches.
I have an FLHTPI (Police Electra) but I have never seen or heard of an FLHTPX.
Inquiring minds wanna know...
No one has asked in three years--so much for inquiring minds.
A Street Glide is an FLHX; so, when I added the SG rear fender facia/LED about three years ago, and already had the long chrome tank console and fairing mounted mirrors, for fun I decided to describe my bike as an FLHTPX.
My wife bought me a set of the chrome buttons, and I tried for like 3 hours, gave up, put them in the closet. I never even got one of the original ones off.
