Default Dyno Explanation Please

I was a rally yesterday and had them take my bike and give me some numbers as to where it sits. My bike has the Stage 1, DFO, & V&H Dresser Duals. The tech said it needed some work and needed tuned. I know that I lost a lot of torque changing from stock pipes to the duals but the ole lady was hating the heat from the crossover.

I was thinking of going to a professional tuner to have it tuned with SERT but others have said to get a hold of Jamie @ Fuelmoto and get the entire package.

Your header says "Dyno Explanation Please", what do you want explained? You have your baseline data. Are you planning more changes? Are you happy with the way the bike runs?

Dyno's are useful for gathering information & tuning for specific purposes, but you need to define the purpose first. Simply chasing numbers for numbers sake is usually expensive & quite often disappointing.

Sorry, I was typing the post and working in the garage back-and-forth. The technician said the number for hp and torque seemed quite low and not really very good. He also stated that the mid rpm range is extremely lean, around the 15's. I'm assuming that my loss of power on the hwy is due to this condition? I would like to achieve some back to stock or the numbers the motor was designed for. I know that I killed some of this with changing the stock headers out and going with true duals.

All dynos are not created equal. That being said it appears your numbers are quite low.
Typical numbers I've seen for stage 1 96" are 75hp/88tq. Bone stock is about 66/80.
IMHO Fuelmoto is a great choice. Worked for me.

+1 Jinks!

OK Master Sgt..this is what ya got! Remember what Jinks said...You have a baseline to work from. NOW, You want to take this info...including what you've already done to your bike and let Jamie know what ya have. Let him know your baseline info and he'll know where to go from there. Remember...you're probably going to go with the PC-V and he'll set you up with an appropriate MAP. From there...you' shold be closer to the ball park you might be looking for...BUT...remember what Jinks said..."Have you defined your purpose"...where are you going with your end state?

You have a good start for sure...thing is those number should be abit higher! I'm in the same boat. A "reputable" dyno person here dyno'd My bike and it came out with about the same numbers. the common belief amongst the FuelMoto crew and board members here is that they let My bike get too hot on the dyno and it went into parade mode.

Take it one step at a time with Jamies guidance and you'll be fine!

BTW...I was in the Air Force for 5.5 years...Been in the army now for 23 years. Enjoy your ride! Stop by here an say HI often. We're here to help with what we can!

Ride Safe, Mike

So you're saying you're *not* satisfied with the way the bike performs now. Right? If that's the situation then you do need to do some tuning, if it's not the situation then you need to file that dyno run with your bike records & enjoy the ride.

I recently made some changes to my bike & got a "canned" map from Jamie. With the changes & the new map everything worked fine, but I took the bike to a good shop with lots of dyno experience & let them do a "fine tune". The purpose was to get a quiet ride while keeping the bike cool & in general having it run well for touring. After the dyno the bike was quiet & ran well. The oil temp ran 50 degrees hotter, & the motor was nearly impossible to sit above. But the numbers were good....... I don't have an issue with either the tuner or Jamie. They both gave me good products. It's now my problem to arrive at a happy medium, & with the variety of maps I have from both of them, I'm well on my way. Like I said the first time, first define what you're trying to achieve. It'll make getting to that goal quicker & less expensive.
