Default Improvised stage1

Saw a video on Spike TV. A guy installed a K&N Hi flow A/C on hi scoot and then drilled several holes in the bottom of the mounting plate, thereby allowing more air into the unit. I know that is all a dealer bought Stage 1 kit does, open things up and allow more air. I just bought a TFI, so I can adjust the fuel, and am thinking about going this route to avoid paying dealer price for a stage 1. what do you guys thing? will it work..

I'm curious.

I would say it will and it won't.

Surely, it will allow more air into the engine. And that, some tune of sorts (PCV) and exhaust... Stage 1.

But... air doesn't just... exist. I think air has to follow hydraulic dynamics? Why else all the fancy hood scoops and NACA ducts on cars? Why all the weird lookin Hyperchargers and AC that probably DO work?

Let's both of us await the answer. Kinda sounds good to me.

Not sure but that may not be the best way to tune your bike. Just saying...

I hear ya, Akita. But, you know, I bought a stage 1 for my 06 RKC. It was a high flow air filter and a smaller base plate that allowed more air into the intake..that's all the guy on did..he installed a HiFlor K&N A/C and, by drilling the holes (they were right behind the factory inlet slot) in the base plate allowed more air in..can't see a downside..

Screamin' Eagle stage 1 a/c can be had for $111, why bother with trickery that will allow filth into your engine? Don't go the cheapskate route, it could end up costing you alot more.
