There's always someone to sh-t on a parade. The guy was telling a happy story he didn't need someone elses BS to ruin it. I guess some F-ckin people are perfect. Yeah right......
That is a great story. I had a simular experience when my youngest was 4. Sat with his helmet on between his mother and I for a ride around the block. Every chance he get now he wants to sit on the bike and cant wait to be able to go for "rides" with Daddy...but next time without Mama he tells me... "She has her own motorcycle"

No, this is not a touring forum but a place to tell happy stories and no one is to comment but sacks like you. His parade is someone else's nightmare and without sharing all of my tales of the CPS gestapo or how much it cost me to have the truth heard i say it was a nice story that could have very easily led to his worst day in hell. It was something to think about. I guess you disapprove of car seats as well. Just put them in the back of the pickup cause they like it there too.

Actually I do approve of car seats and I also know that what he did could have taken a turn for the worst, but it didn't. He was just telling a story of a nice ride he took with HIS child, and he didn't need people jumping all over him about how dangerous it was or some BS about CPS. But I'll take you calling me a sack if that makes you feel better. Happy Now?? Idiot....

Motorcycle riding is, as we all know, inherently dangerous and we, as adults, understand the risks involved. Children and animals don't. Sh*t happens and what was a very cool bonding experience could have turned into a tragedy. It's one thing to engage in activities understanding the risks, it's something altogether different to put someone into the same situation who is oblivious to the danger. I don't take small children or my pets riding because I wouldn't be able to live with myself if things went sour.
No condemnation here, just food for thought.
To UltraTheo: I'm glad you had a fun ride with your son that had a pleasant outcome.

UltraTheo...I bring My daughter on rides when I'm down seeing them in FL. So I understand your Pride, Love, Happiness and Pleasure in having your kids ride with you...it is awesome.
While I was abit miffed with ChicagoSpike on his delivery...as a Medic and Trauma Nurse I know he couldn't be more right. Most Accident happen within 2 miles of home and at times or situations that you would never expect! In the past before I was called back to Active Duty I had responded to I think 2 of these types of calls. One with an OK outcome...one with a not so OK.
I laud you for being a dad who wants to increase his sons enjoyment and to include him in your fun and hobby. But at that age it might not be the best of ideas until he can reach the floorboards to be able to stabilize himself. THis is why you see riders bring younger kids and sit them in their lap while riding...another not so safe idea.
I'm glad your ride was a non-eventful one. Just remember tho...we never know what the Big Ranger in the Sky has in store for us when we ride.
Great Story, Cant wait till my daughters are old enough to safely ride with me. right now they are 4 and 2. I would love to get them on the bike, i would also love to see them grow up. dont be so quick to put your little guy on the bike. Like most on here have said, you will not be able to look after him. If you are going to put him on the bike, at least put him in front of you. If some little voice in your head didnt speak up to this being unsafe, then there is nothing us killjoys could say to change the way you do business. ride safe.
Not as much of a "Killjoy" if his son was seriously injured or god forbid killed if he did fall off. It would have really sucked to have two kids in wheelchairs!
