Mom was nervous, we were excited. My other son who is eleven and has cerebral palsy was sitting there in his wheelchair watching his little brother and loving every minute of it. He can't walk or talk but he is the smartest little guy you'll ever meet! He wanted to race us down the driveway with his powerchair and go too. He knew he couldn't but he would if he could! Anyway, took my three old around the back streets of town and stopped by a friend's house who was working on his new Street Glide putting some parts on it. He was so proud to show Uncle Jeff that he was riding with daddy. Stayed just a couple of minutes and left for home, maybe a half mile. The whole way home my little guy just kept saying "me no go home yet daddy, me no go home" Looks like I finally might have a full-time riding buddy when he gets a little older! Sorry Mom.
Great story. Thanks for sharing it with us. Too bad about the self appointed HDF Forum Police Dept latching on to your thread like leaches. They probably work for CPS themselves. Anyway, I can appreciate your story and the feeling you had, I took our daughter for rides on the back of my Ultra before when she was 4 and she loved it too! She didn't want to get off either.

Loved the story. My son now 18 rode short trips with me at early ages too. Now he has his own bike and we ride together. What a great feeling to look beside your riding partner and it's your son. Enjoy your time together sharing the road.

In every group there are people that are scared of the police, or the neighbors, or other's opinions, or just want to be completely safe and sound. Many of these people are willing to surrender many of their freedoms so they can feel safe and protected. How did we come to this? Why have we become so overprotective of our children that we deny them many of the same pleasures in life that we enjoyed?

Someone posted something like they would not take their child or pet on the bike because they are incapable of deciding for themselves if it is safe or not. Do they not take them in the car? Do they not send them to school? What the hell has happened in this country? And why are these puzzies riding Harley-Davidsons?

Congratulations to the original poster for sharing the joys of life with his loved ones. Sure, they will get hurt sooner or later. Maybe a skinned knee, maybe a broken arm or a broken heart, but we all will have some of those same injuries. But your children will also have the happiness, pleasure, and wonderful memories that get us through the difficult times leading to the end that we all, even the puzzies, eventually come to.

Keep sharing your happiness with your children and someday maybe you will be like me, an old man getting ready to ride to Alaska with his young (to me) son as soon as the son returns from Afghanistan where he is doing what he wants to do because was allowed to take chances and enjoy life while he was growing up. Ride safe.

It is a forum which means we are all entitled to our opinion. I don't see any forum police around here. If there were this story would be in the off topic section.

I certainly don't work for the CPS but have had my fun with them to the tune equal to the price of several new bikes. Worth it to win, YES. I just posted what i think should be thought of before you do something that may just put you in jail or worse, someone comes to your door and takes your kids.

Have you ever had that happen? have you ever had to fight a police organization Like CPS so well funded that they could take you kids on a rumor, potentially ruin you financially and not be able to recoup any losses after a very big win because they are basically immune to lawsuits? Do you know what it is like to have someone make false claims against you and you fight with your every dollar to prove them wrong and do so without question only to be told "Sorry for the mistake"?

I don't make the rules or the laws or embrace them whole heartily but they are certainly there and all it would take is for one neighbor to make one phone call and his story would be much longer. I am not that neighbor but they are out there.

The days of the free to do what you please are over especially with your own minor children and you would be the fool to think otherwise. Just try the same discipline methods your parents used and that will open up your eyes. I don't agree with all this new laws crap but i certainly have enormous respect for the potential dangers of them. I am not $hitting on the original posters parade just simply giving food for thought which is what i thought a forum was about.

If you think i am wrong for posting this it is certainly your right to post what you think. I do not expect nor do i wish to change minds. I only offer food for thought for those thinking of doing the same. As fas as $hitting on your parade i think the donkey pulling the float has already done that.

Brings back memories of my kids when they were young. Now I'm waiting on my two grandsons to get a little bigger. Great story! I know how you feel!

I can't believe anyone with even a lick of common sense doesn't understand the difference between putting a 3 year old on the back of a motorcycle and giving them a ride in a car or taking them to school (pre-school in the case of a 3 y.o.). I'm sure even the original poster understands the difference.

As far as calling people "puzzies" is concerned, all I can say to that is it doesn't take any guts at all to name call from the safety of a keyboard and, in any case, it's damn ignorant and un-American to name call just because someone disagrees with you.

Great Story!!! I have a 6 year old. I started riding my own about 3-4 years ago, hoping one day that he would be able to ride with me. My husband has ridden most of his life. When the little one turned 4 we bought a harness (http://www.childridingbelt.com/engprod.htm) to ride in/with and of course, a helmet. My son rides with my husband if he gets to go, and he's ridden with me a couple of times. He uses the saddle bag guards to put his feet on and he absolutely loves it! When his legs get long enough to reach my passenger pegs....he'll be riding with me more too. He wants me to take him to school......which I plan to do as soon as the mornings are warm enough.
