i just thought, if you put the springer front end on one might have a heck of a time reaching the handlebars. they could easily be 6 inches or more farther forward than the RKs.,
* rake & trail on a springer would be 26* & 4.2" of trail if you kept the springer to 28 1/2" long.
* The actual handling around the block would be much better than that of the standard front end on the RK.
* Your reach would extend 3 3/4"
* The ride would suck because springers do
* Your front axle would be 1 1/4" out further.
* There would be a large gap between the gas tank and the top triple tree by 3 3/4".
* The goose neck would look like all goose necks.
* You could cut the goose neck off and mount the steering neck like all other custom bikes.
* You would need a custom built or modified springer as a Softail would not work as they are 32"
This is not new stuff as this has been done for quite a while. Would I do it? Not for me. I like to ride them and not go backwards. Maybe spend your money on nipple rings and tattoo's for more "Hay, Look At Me" appeal.
I would have thought the Springer would handle quite a bit better than the glide front end and I guess according to what Fast Harley says, it would. I know I loved the ease and maneuverability of driving my Springer STS.
Hey what's up bikers? I can tell you for a fact that the RK with a Wide Glide Springer not only looks awesome, but, performs just as well. I installed one on my 2006
RK Custom about 1 year ago...and have never looked back. I have been trying to find another one with that equipment, but, have failed to do so. I have many pics, and can tell you all that it was not an easy tsk, even for me, a custom bike fabvricator. Boy does it get tons of attention though.

If you have tons of picks lets see them. I think the op should do it.

ithink it would look awsome,doesnt have to be a softeil front end,think it would have to be designed by a suspension guru, and custom built. if done right it would look great and should ride as good as any other springer bike.
What's up guys? Hope all you bikers out there are having a great new year. If anyone wishes to really have a springer front end mounted to a HD Touring (specifically the RK)...let me know. I hooked my '06 RK Custom up with a wide glide springer and it looks, and more importantly, performs just as well. I am a fabricator working out of a private shop in NJ, and wouold be more than happy to speak a little more in depth with anyone who may be interested in this. Just respond back to me, and I can then forwared some pics and talk a bit more extensively about this. I love the set up on my bike, and have already beed through the fabrication process on my bike, so I will be able to advise on the process which needs to be done in order to make the transition from stock to springer a success.
