Do any of you guys buy ammo online? If so, is it worth it and where are the good deals? It's getting hard to find ammo around here, mainly 45 and 9mm. The gun shops have went from hating Osamabama to making him the poster child for firearms. The shelves are bare.
You and a bazillion other guys are looking for ammo. It's tough to find and ain't cheap. The best thing to do is invest in some reloading equipment. Sure, the cost of components has gone up but it is still far cheaper to load your own. I loaded up some .45 ACP just this morning. My cost for them worked out to about $7.50 a box.
If you don't want to load your own, have someone else do it for you here:
There are quite a few gun forums online. I just watch the classifieds there, and get much better deals than buying on the retail market. The economy has hurt many of us, and some people are selling off extra ammo and accessories to get some funds in. Rather help them out, and get a good deal as well, if I can. Drop me a PM if you want some forum classified links to check out.
Here are a few. I've found ammoman to be one of the best. The post above is right, it's tough going right now. I just bought another toy, a Colt AR 6933 M4 Commando SBR and now get to wait out the ~3 month Federal/State transfer and stamp process. Am picking up a few more thousand .223/5.56.
Personally, JG Sales. Also, spend a buck or two and pick up a Shotgun News at the news stand or Wal*Mart. There are plenty of ads in there. However, right now, everyone is out or low. It's a little better now, but even Wal*Mart was out of bulk 22's. That's pretty bad when Wal*Mart can't keep 22's on the shelf.
