2800 to 3500 while getting up to speed. Not at WAO throttle though. Just a good steady roll on. Generally cruize 2300 to 2500. Open her up to 4000 plus when getting on it. Plenty of torque through out the entire rpm.
I tend to cruise (Puttin) at around 2000-3000 on the flat grounds but in the hills I keep it typically at 3000-4000, makes entering and exiting the corners much more controlled (Fun).
Many times I have taken my bike to redline, usually a couple of times each time I ride!

I seem to be the exception; I cruise at around 3000 to 3400RPM at 90 and keep it pretty close to the same RPM band in the twisties. If I'm really twisting the wick I'll take her up to above 5k RPM for short periods.
I ride the bike, like I drove sports cars... lower gear, higher revs.... makes the twisties more fun...
but then puttering along the interstates,is fun too
When using the word cruise we all are in the 2-3k range.
Thats cruising.
But inside a long tunnel, up that long hill or that well know slab
. . . well wind it up and sometimes bounce off the rev limiter.
Thats why we mod these bikes.
Then on I90 in Minnesota at 100mph for 30 miles, large sweping bends,
it was the best. That was cruising at 4100 rpm.
so running up the RPMS to 4500 range and then shifting is a bad ? isnt this where the peak torque is at ? ok. so maybe it barks a little reving that high.. but
is the range of shifting 2-3k becuase you want to limit the exhaust noise ?
When I had the DTT system, it would show a graph of the RPM ranges and show you what % of time you spent in each zone. By far the 2000-3000 range was the most used at like 90%.
Low-end torque rules!!
Steve
I had forgotten about that. You're right Steve... the log tells the tale!

Your peak HP will be around 4,500 RPMs...not your peak TQ. Depending on your configuration, I would guess your peak TQ would be somewhere between 1800-2500 (ball park). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I like to keep my bike between 2500 to 3200. I cruise regularly at 80 (3,000 rpms) Seat-of-pants feel of the power band is between 2500 to 4000 and some change.
