Me and the wife plan on going to Durango, Co. in June. I will be trailering my Ultra. Wanted to get some feed back on some good places to stay in Durango. We will be taking rides out from there each day on the bike. We are not looking to camp outside. If anyone has any information on places to stay it would be appreciated.
It's been a long time since I've been there but you might look at heading just outside of town toward Purgatory. That's the ski basin that's up there and was pretty nice.
There are many nice places to stay in Durango. There are quality Bed and Breakfasts as well as hotels. If you do a google search you should find something nice in your price range. There are some outstanding rides from Durango but remember to bring warm clothing and a rain suit.
Stayed there for several days a few years back--- very nice town--- we stayed right down town on East 2nd street close to the freeway--
The hotel is right near the fwy--- easy walking distance to town restaurants and bars, clean and reasonable-=--
BTW, we went thru Kingman AZ from CA--- if you go thru Kingman, you have to stop and just ask for the steakhouse--- best steak I've had in a good long time--- think it was called Dambars, but not sure if it is still great-- like I said, it's been a few years--
Enjoy you time around Durango it is a trip you won't forget. 2 years we trailered our bike to Durango from Cali. Lucky we did because we hit rain like I have never seen before. Anyway make sure you ride over to Mesa Verde and see the history on the way the Indians lived and built their home in the rock cliffs. Also ride over to Silverton and Telluride. Gods country.
We rented a coundo north of Durango, it is called Needles. Great place.
PS. Make sure you take the old train ride from Durango to Silverton.
