I have a Sansa, I found a case with a belt clip, I clip mine to my clutch cable and haven't had any problems with it there and it is easy to see and control.
Two things, there is a company out there that has an I-pod connector built in to an antenna jack, unplug your antenna, put this device in and plug your antenna and I-pod into it. I'm not sure if you have to tune to a specific channel to hear the I-pod or if when ou trun the I-pod on it just takes over.
Bluzmn59, try holding down the center button and the play button together for 3 - 5 seconds, this will put your I-pod into a soft reboot and it will save ou from having to wait for your batteries to die.
I am ruining my second IPOD. I am going to get the one without the moving parts....I believe it is the nano.
I have a 6' cord running under my gas tank up to the fairing and it hides and pops out of the right side (facing the front of the bike) and into the aux jack. I have an Ipod magnetic case attached with velcro on my panel after the seat. I can control the ipod easily, although the easiest way is to create playlists and have 60-70 songs ready to go.
The way I have it hook up works well for me, most people never know it is even there, but now on my second Ipod, I will say it has already frozen up a few times. I will try it with a nano and hopfully the fact that there are no moving parts in it, will give it a chance on this vibrating bucket of bolts.
You could also get a Monster Iezclick RF remote control to control your iPod while riding. The hard drives will eventually lock up on a bike. The flash drives will not.

Thanks. I knew there was something like that, but could not figure it out in the hotel in Daytona. I was worried that it had frozen for good this time, but it had discharged enough by morning that I could recharge it and it seems to be working okay.

No problem, I have the same problem, whenever mine freezes up, I have to play with it to remember what combination of buttons to hit to get it to reset.
Hold the menu button and the center buootn at the same time forces a restart. Sometimes it takes a few tries but it should work. If you get the sad face or file face the hard drive might need to be pluged back in. There is a web site / store dedicated to do it yourself apple repair.
Monster RF remote for the Ipod, is VERY cheap on Amazon.com I think $25?
I just ordered one thursday night. Before this my wife had bought me a watch remote control I believe it was a Ironman watch that controlled your Ipod, that one was like $100.00... those are the few options that I have found for Ipod remotes...
