No kidding, one of the mods I had planned for this year was a new seat. Well I picked up an HD adjustable backrest from eBay and installed it yesterday. Even with my stock seat the difference is night and day. It feels much more like the old king and queen I had on the panhead and gives me the support on my lower back that I was missing. I did a short 2.5 hour ride today and felt like I could go all day, really just stunning difference!
This is one of the best purchases yet for this scoot. If you are uncomfortable on your seat, particularly lower back issues, give one of these a spin before you dump the dough on a new seat, it will amaze you. Next up 2" pull back bars!
wouldn't be without mine....helps the back a bunch. As for seats, I put on a HD Sundowner, best factory seat I have ever had....very comfy with the gel insert.
A good backrest and 2" pullbacks... friends of touring riders everywhere! I added a Mustang seat for good measure, and don't think I could be happier!
You'll enjoy the ride even more when you're not hurting, that's for sure and certain!
no doubt, the best money ever spent are the bucks for a back rest. I don't give a hoot what it looks like on the curb, in the saddale it rocks (even if we have to settle for the H-D POS backrests).
You are right about the backrest and pullback bars. Best thing for comfort. I used to have the HD backrest, but now I have the Mustang Backrest- it is 2000% better. Whoever engineered this thing was thinking. It is VERY simple, and can adjust up and down, backward and forward, and it always conforms perfectly to your back.
As for your seat- take it and send it to mean city cycle and have them do the memory foam modification and you will REALLY be in heaven. I don't even think about my seat anymore. NEVER sore.

Mean City was the plan, but I may wait a while now and do some other work on the bike first. Bars are the next must have item.
Adjustable backrest and screamin' eagle heated seat for me. The backrest was one of the first things I got and the heated seat is comfortable to me even when not heated.
