Whichever one has the least amount of potholes seems to be a good answer...

A Missouri State Trooper that I used to fly with in the Army Reserve advised to stay out of the inside lane. If Grandpa Jones gets on the 4 lane going the wrong way thats the lane he's likely to be in. I have personally witnessed several drivers that would have took me out if I'd have been traveling in the inner lane. My renter's daughter was nearly killed when she was hit head on that way. Other driver wasn't so lucky. I have seen it twice on I-565 in front of the Space and Rocket Center where the speed limit is 70. Remember the closing speed of two vehicles at 70 mph is 140 mph.

I like to think of myself as anyother vehicle on the road. I don't let fear determine where or when I ride, it will get you if you do. Ride strong, be smart and be alert to everything around you when you do have to make that choice in a split second. Think ahead and have a way out.

I chose the lane that offers the best escape route just in case I have to evade.

I'm always in the lane that allows a way out, be it the fast lane, slow lane or the one in between. Whichever one doesn't have a car in it or near it.
