I currently have a 07 FLSTC and I love it, But I have always liked the touring bikes. I rode a Ultra last year in a demo ride and just loved it. I like the lines of the RK's and Electraglides. Makes me wish now I had gotten one back when I bought my bike new. I found a 05 Electra glide standard and was wondering about trading down. I really dont care if its 5 speed or 88CI. I plan on taking it out for a test ride soon. Anything I need to look for while checking this bike over? It has 11k miles as does mine. I feel funny in wanting to trade bikes as I really like my Heritage but something about the touring bikes have been calling to me. I open to all suggestions.

I made a similar "mistake" a while back. Be sure to take the test ride on some curvy, mountainous roads if you can. You won't want to get back on your Heritage.
Are you sure you can't pull of getting an 09?
Same thing happened to me in August of '08. Traded my '03 Heritage for the '08 Ultra for the exact same reasons and ..........well by looking at my signature you can see I haven't looked back. My only regret was that I didn't do it from the start.
Good Luck

Uh excuse me but you'd be trading UP. I've come from the softail side many years ago. Good choice and as Dawg said, watch the valve seals and if there are changes, a common sense approach like anything else when you're buying preowned.
i was 25 when i bought my first ultra 6 bikes later would not own anything else to do any real riding but i do love the looks of others and they would look great in my garage {50+}
trading UP..... trading DOWN.... slipping sideways....
who gives a fig????
You had something, now you're getting something else.. a different tool for a different task.
Everyone I know who has a Heritage, loved their bike, same goes for the EGS, Don't think in terms of up or down, think in terms of comfort and joy....
