I wouldn't trade my SE touring slip-ons for anything. I love the look and the sound; not too loud, but plenty loud enough especially when I get into the throttle. They have substantial 4" chrome bodies that are hard to miss.

Mostly what I hear in the cockpit around town seems a bit loud. On the expressway they are not nearly as loud and I am pleased with them and think they will be OK on tour. Where the Monsters really shine is when you hear them go by as a spectator. Standing away from my bike about 20 feet they sound absolutely awesome. Problem is, of course, that's not how I usually listen to them.

But I've made my investment in the Monster Ovals and will live with them and perhaps enjoy them more as I get used to them. But if I had my druthers..... it would be the 64985's. Mine were the -07's and I seem to recall that someone said the -07a's were a little deeper in tone.
Pator John...I think you made an awesome chioce! I invested in My Monster Ovals and couldn't be happier! they are actually only 3-5 decibels above stock. What you're catching is the deeper rumbles from those larger cans they have! they sound much louder...but really aren't that much louder...I had the cops do the decibel check on me on purpose...they were surprised...all I did was smile! and if I go to Myrtle...Trust me...I'll ride thru and not be scared of the vHead Village Idiot (City Mgr) and the cycle *****!

Ride Safe, Mike

I went with the Jackpot mufflers from Fuel Moto. They have a good rumble but not too loud and make good power. I had the older SEs on my 96 RK. These have that sound but just little quieter. I like them

due to size of the Monster ovals, Can they interfere with scraping on curves before your foot pegs ?

Monster Ovals here too. Only had 1 short ride but I Love em! Exactly what I wanted.

My last bike had Fullsac and Supertrapp SE's, good sound but the "bark" got old and the highway "bongo" sound was annoying.

The Supertrapps are 3 decibels over stock with a 12% power gain. You can read about them on the Fuel Moto site and hear them on the Supertrapp site.

I can't help with your question about the SE pipes because I have never run them, but I have a set of Python slip ons that I really like. They are not real expensive, good build quality, a little louder than the SE's but not ratty or tinny (to my ear, your ear may be different). I can ride down the road and not be hearing the pipes all the time but if I fuel her up good it sounds great. No one ever complains when they are riding behind me and my wife says they sound good when she is on the bike, and she doesn't like loud pipes.

Good luck.

Default Just installed SE slip-ons on my '07 Ultra

I'm glad to hear a lot of you folks like the SE Street Performance slip-ons because I just put a pair of 80491-07's on my '07 Ultra. I heard them on another Ultra in the Harley shop, right after listening to some Rinehart True Duals on another one, and although the sound was not quite as awesome I thought it was pretty close, and it was under $400 to get them. I haven't had a chance to ride with them yet but they sounded great in the garage. I'm told I don't need to retune as long as I keep the air intake the same. Any advice on that? Maybe I should change to higher air intake later, but then I assume I need to add a sport tuner as well. Is this correct, or can they just tune with what I have?
