Default riding a RG

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the reply's . My concerns werent about getting my feet on the ground , i've already overcome that problem. It's weather I would be able to see over the RG fairing because it looks taller than a batwing fairing. I was also concerned about reaching the raidio since my arms are a little shorter. To answer the question about renting one, they dont rent up here in New York for some reason. The dealers dont even have one to look at. They say not much of a demand to stock one. Thanks.

5'8" and I ride a Roadie.... the '09 is about one inch wider, so you might feel that is too tall.... but you could get the SERG suspension and lower the standard. a little taller boot might help, and I'd say try a REACH seat on the bike. Most dealerships I know, would be happy to "dry fit one on the bike, if they smell a sale.

there's NO problem with seeing over the fairing, it's far away, and about hip level any way. What you won't be able to see, is the road directly in front of you. If you're looking there, you're going to wreck, so there's no point.

Depending on what you ride now, the biggest problem for SOME people, is the fairing doesn't move. Because I look ahead when I ride, the fairing isn't even IN my view, and there is NO poiint looking that close anyway

edited to add:
Other than turning the radio on or off.... the volume/tones/tuning/band selection is all done with the thumb controls. Around town, I listen to local FM, on a road trip, I plug my MP3 player into the AUX , and then toss the MP3 into a glove box

Smile RG's for short people

I'm 5'8" and ride a 08 RG. Stock suspension, no lowering blocks.Don't compromise the ride. Get a seat that lowers you some. I wear boots with a 2" heel.

You can get a shorter wind screen if the stock one bothers you. The bars can be tilted back a few degrees or even changed to fit you better.

I'm 5'6" and found the stock RG shield to be too tall so had it cut down by 4" so I could easily look over it. Also tried the 6' shield which I actually like better. Now I've got a Cee Bailey's SSC 14" on the way so we'll see how that fits. I hope that I don't need to trim it.

I tried tilting the bars back but that still made me lean a bit too much so I've got a set of Heritage bars to install as soon as I have time.

Oh yeah, I have stock suspension, stock seat and no rideability issues. Don't take away any ground clearance by lowering the suspension, IMO.

The only other (minor) problem I see is the handlebars. The stock ones are a stretch. I'm not sure what HD's thought is there. Except I guess they hope to get more $ out of us.
Most people change to either Heritage or Wideglide bars. The aftermarket selection is endless. Any height, shape, width, whatever.

Most guys with Electra Glides (or StreetGlides) like the stock bars. I wonder if they would work on a RoadGlide . . . Or are they too wide at the base?

I still have the stock "takeoff" bars off my 00 Heritage. Saving them for . . .

I agree that the bars would be the first thing to check. I'm 6'0" the stock bars are comfortable but they're almost at the limit. with my Sundowner seat.

I used TJ products lowering blocks on my 09 and it didn't compromise anything... Is that 2 in. heel spiked? "Compromise"

actually short people can't ride Road Glides. Which is one more reason they don't have no reason to live.
