Default Go for it

I am 5'7" and I just closed a deal on a 08 RG. I went for the HD lowering kit for the extra 3/4" which is plenty low, (w/out 2" heels.....spiked or not)
I also went for the heritage bars, the reach was more of a concern then the height for me. I tried rolling the bars back and it was not quite enough.
I have a short knock werks wind shield so I can not comment on the stock height. But that is a really easy fix, plenty of different sizes available.
HD was kinda talking me out of the reach seat (claims it limits your ability to move around in the seat) I can't comment on that.
I say go for it, you will not regret it!

Cheers, and Happy Motorin
Rick

What about the reach from the rider position to the controls on the RG fairing? I'm 5'11" and it seems like a stretch for me when I sit on a RG.

I checked with the dealers in my area but none of them have one for me to check out. I would love to see pcs. if you got them. Thanks.

Buy the reach seat. Drops you down 1.5 inches and moves you forward 1.5 inches

Stan's in Batavia has a 2008 Pewter Pearl Road Glide in stock. I bought my EGS from Stan's; their good folks to work with. I live in Ransomville, not too far from you. I had to travel to Erie, PA to rent an Electra Glide, I don't think they have a FLTR in their rental fleet, but if you search around, a weekend road trip might be possible for a rental.

There is nothing for you TO reach, on the "dash board" really..... except for the power button on the radio, unless you're changing CD's, and I'm not sure if that's a "good idea while in motion or not.... and as I've never even USED the cd player, I'll leave that concept to those who have.

Only other "controls" I'd be concerned with... Trip ACC and cruise, are at the bottom of the handlebars.

Every other control... Radio functions.... cruise functions are operated from the handgrips

Edited to reply to RAYERS. I wonder WHY?? they'd tell you that, unless they didn't have a REACH seat in stock, and were hoping you'd buy a higher priced seat?
the reach seat doesn't "limit the ability to move around" at all.... (IMO)

I believe it was a personal choice. The salesman said he was speaking from experience. You are right, they did not have a reach seat in stock, however he recommended I keep the stock seat (no sale).
I will see the results of lowering the RG 1" w/ lowering kit before purchasing a new seat (possibly a reach seat based on your assessment (thanks), I'll ask for a dry fit first.

You could order the FLTR-S model...

S is for short!

I am 5'6" with 29 inseam and I lowered the rear an 1" with one of those lowering kit from Ebay and I just ordered the Progressive Suspension for the front suspension to have it lower about another 1". That should even things out for me. It's mostly so that I would be more comfortable while stopped in traffic or when I need to really plant my feet on the ground. Other then that I ride the bike just fine.
