I've got an 03 road king and am getting ready to change the drive belt..
My Question is can you change over to the newer smaller belt(i.e 07,08model)and where to get the parts or someone that offers a kit?
Also,I was maybe thinking of changing over to chain drive have any of you done this?
I am changing an 03 FLHT to a 1.125" belt from the 1.5" belt that came on the bike. I bought a new take-off pully off e-bay for $35. The front should be OK as the rear pully controls tracking of the belt. I am doing so I can use a 18" X 4.25" rear wheel and a 150 tire. I would try to go to a 160-170 but the stock fender is too narrow. I have been told that I might have to shim the pully to get it to line up. Pingle/RC and most of the wheel guys have shims available to make this work. We'll see!!!
Why would you want to go to the smaller belt. I run a 160 on my '03 adn the only thing I did was add a .15" pulley spacer ($15) and cut the rubber off the belt guard...
I can relate to the chain. The next tire change I'm going 180/18 of off an '09 street glide. I think and rear chain and some shoe-horning and it will fit...
