sounds like a port might have a bit of dirt or clog in it ,,,,these carbs are bone simple really,,,, take it apart and blow it out good with some carb cleaner and air,,,,and it wouldnt hurt to rejet go rich with bigger jets,,,they are cheap buy few and experiment to find the best fit,,,,,,,it doesnt take much of a clog to make things go south ,,,,let us know what happens

Most of the time with carbed Evo's all you had to do was richen up the idle jet and go up one or two steps on the needle and you were good to go with the baffles drilled out. They were lean on the bottom from the factory. This worked on mine anyway. You may have some varnish in the carb and a dose of Seafoam and an hours ride may cure your troubles.

I would go through the carb and make sure it is clean as a whistle. then check to see if it is rich/lean as suggested above. On carb bike any changes done to the exhaust system needs to be addressed at the carb as well. Remember by drilling a hole in the exhaust you change the setup from carb to tail pipe. It's easy to check so good luck.
