I have an 88 Electra glide classic. new drive belt, clutches, brakes, rotors, all new oils, not the cheap stuff and I waited for no frost on the roads!
Yesterday I rolled it out, Fired it up & off I go to work. Fresh fuel by the way. It's way better than last year because of the clutches etc but it is, or I think it is lazy.
If Im rollin at around 3000 rpm, I have good power, no hesitation. If Im down around 2500 rpm, it bogs a little and eventually goes. I had 1 back fire through the pipes on accelleration. This is a 1340, all stock except for washable steel screen air filter. it has a kein carb. the only other thing I did which might effect it's performance was run a 1 inch hole saw through the baffles. The pipes sound better but not as loud as strait pipes. I didnt do this so it would sound loud, I did this because several people told me that it would breath a little better.
So, bottom end is void of power, even taking off from a stop is not great. Higher end like 60 to 70 miles per hour, it is very responsive.
Any suggestions?
Bike has 70,000 km or 45,000 miles on it.
Thanks!
Hatch.
Just my opinon, and you know how they are, everybody has one. But I think with the 1 in. hole, you lost your back pressure and your low end tq.Your going to either have to rejet your carb or get more back pressure.
Did this start right after the pipe work???
I have a 2006 which I cut several holes in my baffles cause I was going to get new pipes anyway but it did not change performance at all!!!!!
If it set for a while I would suspect bad fuel!!
