I'm wanting something similar but I don't want to lose the cool look either. I'd like to find something 11-11.5 and still get a bit of the ape look, but keep my hands mostly if not all behind the fairing. The 10" one's I've seen I'm sure are very comfortable, just doesn't have the same visual appeal.
Looked at Yaffee,Cyclesmith,Wild One's, Roland Sands, Todd's Cycle.
The 13"s really look good.

To be honest if I wanted bars that extended OVER the fairing I would have got the Road King or maybe even a Softail with windshield. Different strokes I guess.
