I use the rack all the time and actually think the bike looks better with it on. In fact, I sold a detachable rack to my buddy who rides an '08 Street Glide and bought a 4-channel permanent mount version. This one goes better with the "1965 Electra Glide" theme I've been aiming for with my bike.
I've had detachable rack on my RKC and currently have luggage rack on my Ultra. It's a "must have" when we including you (thinking about purchasing one) go on vacation trips.
Also, Someone above mentioned about the appearance look to go along with the bike. I agree wholeheartedly. Chrome Piece on a Tour Pak makes it look complete.
I have a "Stealth" (a.k.a. "The Claw") on my '08. NON-detachable on the '08's, so I'm just a little jealous.
Not that I don't like it anyway... And it certainly gets it's fair share of use.
Doesn't come off the 07 either. I would probably never take it off anyway, cause I like the look, but it would make it easier to clean and wax the fender.
Thanks for all your responses and pic's. I'm putting in my order for the Stealth Detach Rack right now.. I wonder if my wife has gotten tired of all the boxes piling up in the garage yet...lol
And she wonders if you'll get tired of all the boxes packed on your bike whenever you two take a trip?
I guess I'm not quite getting why you want a luggage rack when you have a tourpack? I have only the luggage rack and yes, we use it. If I had a tourpack, I wouldn't need my luggage rack. Do you think you'll use both? I have never had a need for my luggage rack except for trips.
I need detachable rack and tour pak with a rack just to carry all the things I buy on bike events and swap meets. I just put a hitch on the bike for larger buyes.
