I am always tempted to split lanes but in Boston people want to kill you if you do it.

Default Splitting the Lanes on the inside!
Several years back when riding with my partner, we stopped at a traffic light and turned to talk to each other when a kid on a CRocket skidded right between us and out into the intersection. BOTH of us were really glad the kid wasn't a car.
