I bought this antenna from advice on the forum. I have not installed it yet but will let you know. However there are several here who have it and while it is not as good as the whip, it was better than most of the others. For more information, get on Ebay and do a search on "Harley Hidden Antenna". Its about $21.

I took the stock whips and just cut them down to about 18". I don't use the CB, so not worried about whether it'll short out the CB or not. I just got tired of hitting those damn things! Haven't noticed any reception differences.

I bought the J&M shorties, they seem to work fine.

I confess though that I have only used the CB once, and I listen to CD's most of the time.

Go with HD's, no more expensive than the others, and in some cases cheaper and they work fine.

I switched to the HD shorty. I can get all of my stations without any problems, just as I did with the stock whip.

Stick with whips, they work best. When I park my bike in my Bike Barn, just fold them over and hook onto the saddlebag latches. Works great for me. Besides, since everybody is using shorties, now I have the unique look!

I have the HD shorty antennas. Like them and know problems. The HD CB is adjustable but has nothing to do with the antenna, i believe its inside the tourpac where you adjust. The manual explains it.
