I'd look into the type of fluid you're using and how the cable/clutch is adjusted. Mine did the same and had it adjusted by the Dealer. Seems to have worked out... hope does for you. The thing is clunky enough as it is...
Check your cable adjustment and ride it more. They have to break in and will get better as time goes on. I switched to Synthetic fluids at 1000 miles and mine is fine.
Mine was acting the same way yours is. I switched to RedLine Shock proof Heavy at the 1000 service (did myself) and Now I can find neutral easier and the shifts are a lot smoother. I think it's a combo of the "real transmission fluid" I'm using, and some break in mileage now on the trans. Don't want to give all the credit to the fluid choice, cause break in has a lot to do with it as well cause there are others on the forum that don't use Shock proof and their trans gets smoother with time as well.
The reason I said "Real Transmission" Fluid is that some use the SYN 3 in the transmission and any fluid thats designed to be used in all 3 holes has some give and take to be able to work well in all three parts of the bike. I'm from the school that the requirements for the engine are different than the transmission and so on.
It's all about the miles. They all start out that way. Mine with 650 miles is already smoother. Of course, Street Glides get smoother shifters than Road Kings

I'm sorry...won't happen again
Yup that must be what the glide stands for -
Then again I remember they used to associate the term "glide" as in "glider's" to men of the alternate life style type, if you get my drift - Such as "G-y Glider's", light in the loafers... You get the idea right? LOL -
