Trans / Primary Fluids Mix
2005 Road King Classic
Without going into a long story I had a bad accident last year and I'm finally getting to where I can work on the bike. I was able to swap the engine / trans assembly into the new frame the other night and started to work on replacing the primary case today (inner & outer). These are only being replaced due to scratches on the outer and I decided to install a chrome inner; so it has nothing to do with hard damage. When I went to drain the primary I noticed that trans fluid had mixed in with the primary. I run the Shockproof Heavy in the trans (a pinkish color) so it was easy to tell. Before I started tearing the bike apart a couple months ago it ran great and the trans had no problems as far as I could tell shifting through the gears while on the lift.
Is there any way that trans fluid could mix in with the primary fluid (or vise versa) if the bike was on its side for a while? To be honest I remember nothing in regards to the accident so I have no idea how long it laid there. Or should I be looking for some other internal damage? I'd have a hard time understanding any damage like that since the engine / trans was basically untouched in the accident.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Brian
Thanks
