For about $250.00 (and a small monthly fee) my brother in law puts a gps tracker on all used cars sold off his lot. At any time he can go online and see where that car is (shows on google earth) If battery is disconnected it will show that location.
911 locater is active on all cell phones, by law. A local cop told us at an meeting to hard wire a cell phone into our bikes, and leave it on, and make sure the 911 locater is on. They can locate it to within a couple hundred yards by the 911 signal.
So if you live in a major city its worth it or no?
The only way to know is to go to the local PD and ask them if they have the LoJack equipment. If they do, your call... if not, they can't do anything if the bike is taken.
Honestly, if my bike (or car) is stolen, I don't want it back. That's what insurance is for. It isn't a collectible. Now, I'd hate to have it jacked while on a trip -- major hassle, but Lo-Jack wouldn't prevent that. I'd wind up 1000 miles from home with a bike that needs a major repair. No thanks. I'll just fly home and they can mail me a check.
I looked into LoJack when I bought my bike.
I would have thought Cincinnati and Indianapolis are major cities.
Apparently not.
The product seems to be for specific markets and is worthless outside of those areas.
Of course the dealerships are still happy to recommend the product anyhow.
