It obviously your boots. You need down shifting boots. Or an adjustment of the ones you currently have. Do you know of cobbler in your area. Most have the TSB to do the down shift updates to older model boots!
Just kidding, I don't have a clue why its doing that. Mine works well both ways after adding a shift linkage.
Dad used to always tell us we needed double clutching boots and 2 speed pants ?
You know, the heim joints are flat compared to the ball joint ends. I saw here that someone used a spacer between the rod end and the rear lever to take away some angle. Wonder if that's a good idea? Just talking, typing outloud.

Thats was me... ... Anyway somewhere in this thread should be the link to the ebay shift rod (chrome with rod ends) .. I was messing with mine the other day and found the chrome peeling off one rod end.. I emailed the ebay seller and he stated he had never had a complaint on peeling chrome ? Ok .. So he says ill get one in the mail to you. I explain that im on a couple H/D boards and ive told people about the good price he has and I have also posted about the bad chrome issue but just that I had a problem (no rant about poor chrome or anything) He emails me back saying he appreciates it and let him know how the new one works out.. Today in the mail I get another whole assembly not just 1 rod end ... Anyway this is good service.. This guy will get more of my business if he has something i want or need. ... I dont have the link handy and im headed out the door but its here on the board somewhere..
