I didn't note what kind of builds and CR we're talking about here, but if you're talking stock compression your bike should not be pinging. In fact, with a higher compression buiild, (mine is 10:5-1), you shouldn't get any pinging, unless you are using real crappy gas, and yes a bike with CR like mine does require a good 93 octane gas, BUT all that said, no bike of any kind should ping if it is tuned properly. You either some AFR or timing issues to tweak if you're pinging with good gas in 6th gear. It is ALL about the tune.
