They redesigned front fairing in 04 and it is the same today. I have an 04 and love it course it is far from stock, but the 07, other than engine slightly bigger and 6 speed , same bike and I believe 6 gallon tank but that may have been 08. As far as power have heard comments from 88 will take 96 to just cam it to beat 96 your choice! get the bike then the fun begins you won't regret it!
Fairing will be the same as the 07 and 08 models. The only negative about an 05 model year was the valve guide seals. They were known to let a lot of oil get sucked past them and burned inside the cylinders. My Low Rider would regularly use a quart every 1,200 to 1,500 miles. Could never see oil smoke from the exhaust, but it wasn't leaking and I could see the burt oil deposits on the plugs. So I figure the tops of the pistons surely had to be carboned up from the oil also. Some were fixed under warranty, but most were not because Harley claimed the oil consumption wasn't excessive. "Normal" in their own words.
I say buy it if it's what your budget allows. Then when you get a little extra money, throw a 95" build in it along with new valve seals. If you pick the right parts you'll probably have more torque and horsepower than us guys with the 103" builds. It's some serious irony, but I'm okay with it.
