Well, ordered the DOT polo helmet from ACC. They will give you D ring and quick disconnect retention system free if you ask, as well as re-shaping helmet if you have a narrow noggin. And I mentioned forum member and got 10% discount. Not really that bad aof a deal considering it's carbon/kevlar and shaped somewhat to fit your noggin.
I used to be an MSF instructor and saw a lot of guys riding with cheapo helmets...I'd always say "If you have a $5 head, wear a $5 helmet...me, I'll stick with an expensive one".
What helmet would you guys recommend, or somewhere to try several different kinds on?
I bought a full face EXL DOT and Snell certified, comfortable for short and slow, but buffets like crazy in any kind of head or cross wind at highway speeds.
I wear a Bell shorty most of the time but same issue with wind, my neck kills at the end of a long ride. I've completely given up on anything with a visor and am looking at the beanie types just to get away from wind drag.
The NXT 1/2 appears to be a good helmet but reading through various forums seems like you need to have a volleyball for a head or it doesn't fit properly. I mean I get the bit about try before you buy, but not a lot of places carry every kind of helmet.
Another string here on the HD forum one of the guys recommended the Vega Naked, they have a nice looking carbon fiber too , so does KER, and Outlaw advertises their 1/2 helmet weight only 32 Oz.... light is good but tight / close fitting is better.
