Welcome to the wonderful world of Harley Davidson.
Seriously check the motor mounts TC motors are supposed to vibrate at idle but that seems a little excessive.
My idle vibration settled down quite a bit after I replaced my bad mount with a velva ride front motor mount. Look at the lower, under the frame, part of your mount. If it has chunks missing or is chewed up even a little on the outside, there's a good chance the inner part of the rubber is split and chewed worse.
Anyway, my bike now shakes about the same as an 09 with the new engine mount design.
I felt the same way. I checked the motor mounts and fairing braces. Nothing wrong. I decided it is a HD thing.
I will try the front break and see it does make a difference.
The ladies love it.
I would be worried if the bars didn't shake. At idle everything in the mirrors is, of course, out of focus. Holding the bars quiets them down some as does raising the rpm's. Common to the Eglides and Dynas.
Another thing to look at is your exhaust. If you replaced your own exhaust, sometimes the exhaust can transmit vibrations in two ways. Due to poor fitmet, if any part of the exhaust is close enough to the floor boards or frame to touch it when the engine is idling it will greatly increase the vibration throughout the bike. And if you had to use a lot of effort to pull the mufflers up to the saddle bag bracket clamps to bolt them on than they are not floating very well and even though there are rubber mounts in there it can still send some vibrations into bike. Some people get the header pipe out of line with the back of the bike which puts a bind on the muffler when you have to pull it up with force to bolt it on.
Thanks for all the replies. The fairing braces are all ok. The front motor mount is fine and the exhaust is fine. I think it's just the way she is. It mostly jumps that way mostly when she's cold.
