fuel pressure / pump???????

fuel pressure / pump???????
posting this in addition to my "need help" post as its more specific. having problem with bike and i changed fuel filter-still have problem. but it dawned on me this morning that we encountered no fuel pressure when we pulled the module from the tank. we went thru no procedure to release pressure before we pulled the hose and encountered none.
does this point to bad pump??? is there a way to check fuel pressure??

well i changed the filter yesterday and to my shame it was filthy (i'll post pics later). i noticed that it was REALLY doggy, spit,sputter, cough, hard to start ect in first or second but near to normal at speed. maybe ive burned the pump out wiclogged filter?? 50K plus miles
