Default covert to detacheable

Can someone tell me or point to a previous post on how to remove the side hard shell cases from a stock EG? Also, what would it take to covert a stock king pak to a removable one?

Thanks in advance.

Easy, open the bags, twist the two silver d-rings located along the in-board side of the bags near the top, 90 degrees. The bags will then lift right out. Reverse the procedure to re-install the bags.

As to the tour pack question, all it takes is installing the tour pack detach kit available through your local HD dealer. I did it on my 09 Ultra. Took a couple of hours.

That easy huh, thanks?! I have so much space in the king pak that I haven't really looked in the side cases yet. I love the Ultra, but it's nice to know that I can strip it down a bit for cruising around town.
