I have an Electraglide that had developed a shake or shimmy in the front end between 38 and 45 mph. I can not seem to isolate it. The front tire shows no unusual wear and I can't see where a weight may have come off. I have played with the air pressure and tire pressue with no luck. I checked alignment and replaced the front motor mount. (That got rid of another vibration that I didn;t realize was as bad as it was.) The neck bearing test seems fine. I am open for suggestions. I do most of my own service work, but this one is stumping me. The bike has 78K miles on it.
Make sure that your front and rear wheel bearing end play is within spec. You should have .002 to .006". More will cause wobble, less will cause siezure.
I had a shake/wobble problem with my 95 Roadking, and found that I had shimmed the front wheel bearings too much during a tire change.
Worn swing arm bushings could cause this problem, as could worn front fork bushings. I went through all of that before I realized that it was the bearing shims.
Thanks. I checked the front wheel bearings today. I'll look at the other items. I also re-balanced the tire while I was checking the bearings. I'll let you know if that helped. Didn't think about the rear swing arm.

Sounds like the steering head bearings to me, I would check them again. Also check all the bolts and nuts on the front end, fork tube pinch bolts etc. make sure everything is tight. The front tire might look o-k but could be a bad bead etc., how many miles on the tire? Do you have spoked or solid wheels? It kinda seems strange that you only get the shimmy at those speeds and no other. Keep us informed.
