Talking Added AT to PCV, feedback and a lesson learned

Installed my PC-V, AC and Jackpots from Fuel Moto and was very happy with the results. Previously I was using the O2 IEDs and they helped with the heat issue but the PC-V was a real wakeup for my bike. I was very happy with the mufflers, AC and PCV. I spent a good amount of time reading about the Autotune module and thought it would be a good idea to add the AT module with the wideband sensors.

I got the AT and Jamie sent me the most current map with target AFRs. I installed the AT module, with some phone support from FuelMoto, and got it up and running. I have been riding the bike for several weeks and am very pleased with the adjustments the AT is making and the bike's performance, sound and heat management are all improved. I really like the fact that the PCV-AT monitors and makes adjustments (trims) to the base map to get to the specified AFR values.

Now for the lesson learned. As mentioned above, previously I used IEDs on my bike. I removed them and immediately installed the PC-V. As posted in a few other threads, before I installed the PC-V I should have run the bike stock to let the ECM go back to the normal stock config.

Evidently the ECM had "learned" to send more fuel in the specific range that the O2IEDs were affecting. Fuel Moto's map was right on in the areas outside of the IED range but within that range the AT is making bigger trim values. After reviewing these trims for a couple of weeks, I am going to accept them to apply to my base map and continue to monitor the trims.

My overall thoughts on the PC-V and autotune is that the PC-V with Fuel Moto's map set for my config was dead on. The AT came in handy catching something that I did not do. It is very evident that the AT will adjust for any changes or particular charateristics of my bike. I would definitely recommend the PC-V to anyone and the AT to those who like to monitor what is going on, plan on making additional changes and/or want the map to be tweaked as you ride.

I don't plan to accept any trims going forward unless I change something else on the bike. I also plan to set the trim adjustment range lower on the AT. That way if something "happened" the AT would not make any major changes to the base map unless I allowed. Overall I am very happy with this setup.

It has been said over and over but FuelMoto's customer support and expertise is great! Thanks guys.

Hopefully this makes sense and I haven't misstated anything. I don't even claim to know much about the technical details of EFI but I am learning a lot from this forum.

What kind of Mileage are you getting at this point? That is always my concern with doing all that work - I did it on my 07 and I got more power but less mileage...

This post may have made up my mind for me. I have been going back and forth between the HD SERT and the PC-V. I get different answers from every HD shop I have been to regarding the SERT.
I have decided on the FuelMoto package of Rinehart TD's, SE air cleaner and the PC-V. Not advanced enough to do the AT but will entertain once I gain some additional knowledge regarding tuners/tuning etc. I have heard nothing but great reviews from the guys at FMoto and received a quote for my package that beats everyone so far.

I'm glad to hear it is going well for you. I'm sure I'll be asking all sorts of questions when my order arrives.

I was not very happy with the mpg when my bike was stock. The best I ever got was 38 mpg when I did a lot of highway riding and babied it. Most of the time I ride to and from work - year round. My commute was on backroads and city roads. The mpg was around 34 mpg. This was all stock.

When I added the O2 IEDs, it dropped by about 2 mpg. As you mentioned, I was not happy but the bike performed better and was cooler so I lived with it.

Now with the PC-V and AT the mileage is going up. I checked the last tank and I was getting 38 mpg on my commute. Of course, because of the new power, my right wrist is probaly wasting some of that.

I haven't done a long enough trip on the highway to comment yet but I can tell the bike cruises better. I anticpate getting better mileage and will provide another update after applying the trims and doing some different trips.

Dennis,

got my PCV from Fuel Moto as well. Bike runs good. I had the XIEDs on mine prior to the install. Where did you get the info on resetting the ECM if you had the XIEDs on the bike prior to the PCV. Curious if Jamie said something to you?

I actually found that info in a couple of threads on this forum; however, it was after I had done the install I called Jamie and he verified what I was seeing and that the AT would correct.

They have a Rineharts package as well? The Jackpot package is running 698 with the PCV, what are they wanting for the Rineharts package? Did they give any sort of increase amounts for Rineharts? Supposedly the Jackpots raise HP about 14 or so. Thanks.

I'm also rethinking the AT for my RKC. I'm having problems pulling the trigger on anything right now. I think because I haven't totally made up my mind yet. I REALLY like the way the Rineharts sound but what I've heard about the Jackpots on the forums really makes me lean toward them.

There is a lot of good information in the posts here and I will be happy to help if I can. I can't say enough about FMoto. They put up with a lot of questions from me and were very patient explaining things. Good luck
