Hogtunes Distortion
I have had the Hogtunes 3 way fwy system for just short of a year. Since I've owned the system I get a lot of distortion anytime the volume of the radio is above the 1/2 way volume level. The treble sounds are high pitched, almost a shrill, and plays havoc with my ear drums. I have to back off the sound to about the 3/8's level to manage the shrill noise and then not quit loud enough on the hwy cruising.
I'm not bashing Hogtunes, just informational for me to see if I'm doing something wrong. I have talked with Cameron at Hogtunes and he had me do some testing with am radio and monotone talk radio to test the speakers and I can't find anything wrong with any of the speakers. My radio is a the latest version from hd so that, I assume, is not the problem. Also, I traditionally listen to MP3's with either cd or ipod and the high pitch sound is the same.
I keep the treble at 1 or 2 bars and the base about 3 bars. Anyone else have or had this issue. It was a problem from the beginning of the install and always thought it was me until a fellow member of BACA heard my radio. he has a amp from hd and J&L speakers and system blew mine away and was crystal as a bell. He sat on mine and said that mine sounds terrible and should be clearer than it is.
I have checked the speaker mounting screws in the fairing and they are tight and there is not vibration between the speaker housing and the fairing.
Any help would be appreciated. I will get in contact with Hogtunes again but wanted to see if any has experienced what I am.
Thanks,
