Question Another MP3 Post!

It has been so long since I have posted! I can't believe how much the board has changed. The reason for posting is to get some techincal input. One last project to get my bagger ready for the season. Late last summer I began intermittently losing the right channel of the stereo while using the MP3 player plugged into my aux input on my 2000 Ultra stock radio. I tried another 3.5mm male to male connector cord and same thing. If I "wiggle" the plug at the aux jack the right channel returns briefly so I have to guess the aux jack is bad in the radio. Now I have done a few days of research, emailed Mike at Hawg Wired and John at Radiosound for options. I could send the radio out to Radiosound for repairs but I feel like the wear and tear from installing and removing the plug into the aux jack will just allow another failure down the road. Mike at hawg wired gave some good info on soldering in a rear aux input and I even found some very detailed instructions including pictures on cvoharley forums. I only have a couple of concerns before I tear into the radio. There is a four pin connector I must solder into, right/left/ground/sense. Right/left/ground I understand but about the "sense" lead the directions show to cut it and leave disconnected. The "sense" lead is just reading voltage to tell the radio to switch to aux mode. The connector I am splicing in does not provide a "sense" lead and I want to make sure I can select aux mode before I cut that "sense" lead. If anyone out there has done this project please let me know how it went and what to watch for.
