Default Aux Jack has come loose...

I'm having an issue with the Aux jack on my radio. Since I use an iPod almost constantly, it seems the backing nut on the Aux jack has come loose. Whenever I plug my iPod into the jack, I may or may not make a solid connection. Has anyone had this problem before? And, how difficult is this to fix? Once I access the radio inside of the batwing, am I going to be able to get inside of the radio?

There is a thread in this forum called "Aux in alternative", not the same issue but all the info you need is in there.

From what I have seen the jack is soldered direct to the PCB so it sounds like you have a dry solder joint or something. You may need some help. Personally, if I was having to go in to the radio I would do the mod that thread suggests as I also use the Ipod a lot.

I have wired mine down to the lower fairing which is where I store the Ipod whilst I ride, so the radio connection hardly gets changed

I checked out the website for the Aux modification, but the pics are gone (referencing circuit board connections is a little difficult without the pics), plus the instructions are for the newer radio. I have an 03 Ultra. I like having the iPod accessible from the front. I just store it in one of the windshield bags. I think you've answered my question though.
If it is indeed a solder connection, easy enough to fix. If I can get into the radio, I can put a better connection on it. But really, wouldn't you think they'd have put a better conenction on it than solder it to a pcb? I assumed that the jack would have been screwed to the faceplate and wires run to the board. Once I open the radio up, I'm gonna check to see if I can't get something a little more substanitial to work. Thanks for your reply, as always.
