Default What I should be checking?

I've been trying to make sure I check up on my bike as much as possible but I'm curious if my Clymer Repair Manual missed anything. What do you experienced bikers out there check every 500 miles? 3000? just once in a while? Thanks to my car & its many problems, I check my battery, tires, brakes, signals, lights, and oil weekly or biweekly. Any suggestions for good maintenance???

thanks for any and all replies!

The owners manual has a listing of the periodic checks, and the shop manual has the directions on some of the tuffer stuff. Not that any of it is hard.

I think you've named a lot of the major things to check. You might want to look at the drive belt for damage as well. I'm mostly concerned with Fluid levels, Tire pressure and condition, battery and charging and lighting like you said. If it's a long trip, I may go over the exhaust clamps for tightness, plugs (Though I usually carry an extra set) make sure the hinges are tight in the saddlebags, **** stuff like that. lol.

I think the genuine HD manual is superior.
The Clymers are to generic.

Get the Genuine Harley Manual. Worth the money.

Yeah I agree about the manual I plan to get it as soon as I get some extra cash. Thanks for the quick responses guys. I'm still young and new to the Harley maintenance routine, just wanted to make sure I am doing all I can to keep her in good shape.
