Default 2009 Road King Customisation

Take a look at this.

How do I get a new 2009 Road King to look like this and which base model should I choose - standard or classic?

Almost everything about this bike looks gorgeous - Paint, front fender, saddlebags, lack of screen.

Only things I would really change would be wider bars wiith less pullback, lose the engine bars and fit forward controls (I'm 6ft7in).

Is the screen removal just as simple as that?

That's a Road King Custom. You can't get those new anymore. You can however, put a clean front fender on one and grab a set of road king custom saddlebags on ebay or something. And yes you can take the shield off. They make quick detach shields that go on and off with clamps. Closest match would be the road king classic and put a smooth/clean front fender on it from say a street glide or road glide.

At your height, converting a RK Classic may be better for you because the RK Customs are equipped with lowered front and rear ends from the factory.

The Road King Custom is lower front and back to the 2009 Road King Classic?

Not sure why this would make it better for a taller rider

This was posted on eBay a while back - a shop in S. Fla. converted an '09 FLHP to a FLHRS-clone. The Custom bags fit the new frame, so from there it was a matter of removing the drive lights and adding the "flyscreen," plus clean fenders and a Street Glide seat.

I liked the Custom a lot, too; thought about doing the same thing.

Default RK custom conversion

If you decide to convert I have a few parts off my custom that i'd be willing to sell. I have an 07 custom that I put hard bags on and I removed the chrome duck bill on the head light plus other parts.
